Despite high hopes for a continued rapport between the two nations, US President Donald Trump and North Korea Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un abruptly ended their summit in Hanoi on Wednesday, without any agreement on nuclear disarmament or easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

“They wanted the sanctions lifted in their entirety and we couldn’t do that,” said President Trump.

North Korea offered to close a major nuclear facility in return for the rollback of US and United Nations sanctions.

There has been no commitment from either leader to hold a future summit.
