On Thursday, Question Time in the House of Representatives ran for the longest time on record, with 34 questions asked in total.

Until now, the longest session had occurred in February 2009, clocking in at 126 minutes. Thursday’s session ran for 150 minutes.

The extension of Question Time prevented the Opposition suspending standing orders to call on a vote in the House of Representatives to consider a motion originating from the Senate calling for a Royal Commission into the treatment of those with disabilities.
