Following an intense campaign that focused on poker machine regulation, on Saturday night Tasmanians returned Liberal Premier, Will Hodgman to the state’s top job for another term with a majority Government.

In South Australia campaigning continued ahead of next weekend’s three horse state election. It is becoming increasingly difficult to determine what the outcome will be and is likely to come down to the preference decals that are done ahead of the St Patrick’s Day election.

Campaigning also continued in the Melbourne inner city seat of Batman. The byelection created by the now former Member for Batman, David Feeney resign as a result of his citizenship issues has seen the Australian Labor Party (ALP) front bench descend on Batman with numerous announcements covering health, education and transport. As there is no Liberal Party candidate, the battle is between ALP candidate and high profile union leader, Ged Kearney and Australian Greens candidate Alex Bhathal who has a strong local profile as she has stood for the seat in every Federal election since 2001.
