On Friday, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) held its 45th general meeting in Canberra to discuss a range of issues including:

  • Improving outcomes for Indigenous Australians· Reforming Australia’s health system
  • Protecting Australia’s children
  • Education
  • Supporting those affected by terrorism overseas
  • Maximising efficiency and effectiveness in federal financial relations
  • Promoting security and innovation in Australian elections, and
  • Developing Northern Australia.

NSW and Western Australia were the only two states that signed up to the proposed hospital funding plan. Prime Minister Turnbull said that this would provide NSW with an additional $9 billion in funding between 2020 and 2025, and WA with more than $3.5 billion over the same period.
