On Monday, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a special report that suggested the effects of climate change would appear much earlier than initially predicted.
Warning that the world has only twelve years to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5?C, the report states that unprecedented, but feasible, reforms are required to mitigate the effects of climate change. The report also found that coal power would effectively need to be phased out by 2050.
The release of this report is likely to cement energy as a big issue for both parties to address in the upcoming federal election.
