It is fair to say that you can gauge a political party’s expectation of the outcome of election results for individual seats by the number of times high profile ministers or shadow ministers visit during the campaign.

Visits are time consuming, and parties focus their resources on ‘in-doubt’ seats where they will have the biggest impact.

This trend appears to have continued with both parties considering Braddon and Longman in doubt, therefore sending senior representatives to Longman and Braddon on nearly a daily basis throughout the campaign.

The Prime Minister, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP, has this week been the first Prime Minister in decades to visit the town of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. He additionally spent time in Canberra and then travelled down to Longman at the end of the week.

The Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Bill Shorten MP has spent the week yo-yoing between Braddon and Longman, visiting both multiple times.

The final consideration for both leaders is where they will be tomorrow to hear the by-election results.
