Minutes ago, the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced the Governor General has issued an order for Federal Parliament to be recalled on 18 April. This is three weeks earlier than originally scheduled.
Parliament has been recalled to consider the Australian Building and Construction Commission legislation which has twice been rejected by the Senate. The legislation, if rejected by the Senate a third time, would provide the Government with a feasible Double Dissolution trigger, and potentially underpin a union-corruption-focused campaign.
The Prime Minister has indicated the Budget will be brought forward to 3 May, a week earlier than planned, and a Double Dissolution election is likely for 2 July.
